Here at the Gig Harbor Vintage Aero Museum, we believe that aviation history is something meant to be shared. That is why, as a newly minted non-profit organization, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that we are officially a 2026 Blue Star Museum!

Starting on Armed Forces Day (Saturday, May 16, 2026) and running all the way through Labor Day (Monday, September 7, 2026), we are proud to offer free admission to currently serving U.S. military personnel and their families.

What is the Blue Star Museums Program?

Blue Star Museums is a fantastic collaboration between the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and participating museums across America. You can learn more about this incredible nationwide initiative by visiting the official Blue Star Museums page.

For military families, who often face frequent relocations, deployments, and time apart, shared experiences are vital. This program is designed to offer a sense of stability, belonging, and connection by opening doors to arts and history nationwide. We couldn’t be more honored to open our hangar doors and be a part of that mission.

From Modern Jets to Vintage Classics

While our currently serving heroes are accustomed to the supersonic, highly advanced military aircraft of today, we invite you to step back in time with us this summer. Come explore a different side of flight!

Our collection focuses on classic civilian aircraft from the 20th century, with a special emphasis on the pre-WWII era. These planes aren’t just machines; they are the beautiful merging of art and engineering. Bring the family to marvel at the pinnacle of early airplane design, see our meticulous, restoration work in action, and maybe even catch a glimpse of one of our crown jewels: the ultra-rare 1929 Alliance Argo!

Who Qualifies and What to Bring

This free summer admission program is available for those currently serving in the United States military, plus up to five family members. This includes:

– Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard

– Members of the Reserves and National Guard

– U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps and NOAA Commissioned Corps

Come Make Some Memories!

Whether you are a lifelong aviation enthusiast or just looking for a unique, family-friendly afternoon out in Gig Harbor, we can’t wait to welcome you.

When you visit, be sure to snap a few photos with our historic aircraft and share them on social media using #BlueStarMuseums, and don’t forget to tag us along with @NEAarts and @BlueStarFamily!
